Nikita Thakrar is a published poet of her own book; "My Journey through Poetry" launched on her 27th Birthday, in 2012.

Nikita is currently working on Volume II of the book, which will be launched in time for her 30th Birthday in 2015.

The book of 27 poems featured a collection both old and new works, she had been writing since her childhood. Since the book launch, Nikita has gone onto develop her writing of short stories and is working on her own auto biography.

Each month Nikita will update a new poem on this page, with a description of her source of inspiration for that month.

I wrote this poem a few years into forming DNC, when i realised that this was not just a career for me but it was my life's mission. It was the reason i was born. Since then i have run it with presence and purpose...

I want to be someone,

I want to go somewhere,

I want to spread my knowledge,

I have a desire to share.

The ideas are all there,

The plans are in place,

I need to make it happen,

Need to run faster in this race.

I have been given a task,

An important role,

I need to hold on tight,

I cannot let go.

Even if things get tough,

Or if my vision seems lost,

I have to keep my faith,

Keep going at any cost.

I have so much more to do,

Much more to achieve,

More tasks to complete,

More rewards to receive.

My journey is still long,

My aims are still high,

I need to fulfil my purpose,

Until the day I die.

“The main purpose of life is to live rightly, think rightly, act rightly. The soul must languish when we give all our thought to the body”.Mahatma Gandhi

  • The new me

I have to say goodbye,
To myself as I know me,
I have to release from my past,
In order to be set free.
A new person has been born,
Who I am forced to embrace,
Although the body is one,
This is a new period or phase,
They tell me not to be scared,
That this chapter will not last.
But my life as I knew it,
Will remain in my past.
A fresh future awaits,
A life of discovery,
As I get to know my new self,
I get to know the new me.

I used to believe that people are only born once, but now I feel I have been reborn, like I was given a new life. I see myself as a child, full of energy and hope.
